Alexandra Llorens and Nils O’Swald’s play Dream is based on their research and interest in the function of dreams and a theory according to which our dreams are deeply inspired by our own reality. This theory postulates that dreams could act as a way of preparing for threats or worrying situations in real life, rather like a vaccine that triggers the production of antibodies to protect against possible future viruses. On the other hand, our past would be reactivated, and our memories consolidated. The dreamer in the loop of his thoughts, preoccupied with his own world. In search of balance, he creates his own perception of reality, develops his own strategies for surviving and not collapsing.
