The Flying Cats Company was created in 2020 by Alexandra Llorens and Nils O’Swald, bringing together their artistic research of dance, music, performance and visual art.
Exploring the peculiarities and contradictions in humans and nature in an associative way, they are looking for singular approaches in their creations.
Starting their collaboration with a serie of video clips “Quadratisch Praktisch” including “Ballet saal” 2020, “Fahrstuhl” 2021 and “Breathing” 2022, they received generously supported by the Theater Bremen.
Their first piece “Dream” premiered outdoors in June 2021. This solo dance creation includes live electronic music and is based on their research and interest in the function of dreams and the theory that dreams are based on our own reality.
In November 2022 the company received support from the German national performance network to be part of the “On display” residency at Lake Studio in Berlin. Supported by the film production team “Quiet City Film” they created a high quality documentation of “Dream” and expanded their technical knowledge on video production and editing. There they created the inside version together with the light designer Dani Paiva de Miranda.
In September 2022 they premiered “Fortune Teller” at the international art festival “Homo Novus” in Riga, Latvia. For this one-to-one-performance they collaborated with the fine artist Annabelle Lange/New Earth Artist. Inspired by Tarot, this performance invites to create a feeling of intimacy, a room for imagination, reflection and phantasm about one’s own life.
“Fortune Teller” was furthermore programmed at the festival “For your eyes only” in 2022, as well as at the festival “Vier tage tanz” in 2023 in Germany.
In July 2023 the Flying Cats Company based its head office in Marseille and joined the young emerging artists pole of the association Eclosion 13 from which they receive personal support in production, creation, diffusion and communication.
